Looking for some fun things to do around the Coachella Valley this August? Then check out the August 2018 edition of The Guide Magazine. Some of the highlights include:

  • The Influencer Section lists desert weekend trip itinerary picks from artist, designer and owner of High Desert vacation Rental, Casa Joshua Tree, Lindsay Hollinger;
  • Best Of The Best looks at the attractions, restaurants, hotels & experiences voted the best by locals in Desert Hot Springs;
  • The Calendar fills you in on all of the happenings across the Coachella Valley in August, including Greater Palm Springs Restaurant Week (Aug 1-17), Palm Springs International ShortFest (Aug 19-25), Splash House (Aug 8-10), PS Comic Xpo (Aug 22-24) and Little Big Town in concert (Aug 29);
  • The Inspired section rounds up hands-on workshops (like those offered at the Old Town Artisan Studios or by Pinot’s Palette), art-filled accommodations (such as Hotel Paseo and Hotel Zozo), modernist eateries (like Workshop Kitchen + Bar and Acqua California Bistro) and troves of upmarket treasures (from places like the Perez Road Art & Design District);
  • The Low Key section looks at trendy spots & pool hops (including Holiday House and the Renaissance Indian Wells) to soak it up in a private pool-side cabana and later to duck into the locals’ favorite haunts to cool off (such as the Tack Room Tavern and Dead or Alive);
  • The Family section examines some ways to wander off with your kids to places that you might not otherwise explore in the Desert (with suggestions like Shields Date Garden, Brandini Toffee and The Living Desert);
  • Well Being looks at discovering the healing Desert (at places like The Spring Resort & Spa, L’Horizon Resort & Spa and Miracle Manor);
  • The Romance section notes that the Desert kindles spontaneity growth and provides a storybook setting in which to woo (perhaps at Colony 29, Casa de Monte Vista and The Chateau at Lake La Quinta);
  • Adventure looks at some adventures you can find here…from horseback riding (Smoke Tree Ranch)…to drifting in a Beemer (BMW Performance Center West)…to arriving at dinner in a boat (Mikado at JW Marriott Desert Springs Resort & Spa);
  • The Bohème section looks at how the atmosphere here fosters a kaleidoscope cast of artisans and purveyors catering to offbeat tastes (at places like Moorten Botanical Gardens, Thick as Thieves and Savory Spice Shop);
  • The Wander List section looks at venturing to some peculiar places beyond the borders of Greater Palm Springs (like Integratron and Giant Rock, Slab City and Salvation Mountain); and
  • In the Tale End, meet Cody Cowan, co-owner of Iron Palm Tattoo Parlour.
