Richard M. Milanovich Legacy Hike & 5K Run | May 5 | 6:30am | Indian Canyons, Palm Springs - Fellowship prepares next generation of leaders Annual Legacy Hike & 5K Run in Indian Canyons supports educational program The Agua Caliente Band of Cahuilla Indians is carrying out the philosophy of one of its great Tribal leaders, Richard M. Milanovich, with an educational fellowship in his honor.

Train Day at The Living Desert | May 6 | 9am-12pm | 47900 Portola, Palm Desert - Train Day, which is free with paid admission, features fun events centered around The Living Desert’s 3,300 feet of track at the Garden Railroad. Train Day includes a scavenger hunt, train arts and crafts; special trackless train rides, and of course a Choo-Choo-Churro special. Model train enthusiasts will enjoy informative train chats being offered.

Cruise-In Car Show Series | May 6 | 1pm-5pm | Westfield Mall, 72-840 Highway 111, Palm Desert - The exhibitions will feature classic cars, muscle cars, hot rods, street rods, corvettes, customs, antiques, restored and original collectible cars and motorcycles. The monthly event also features food, drink and clothing vendors, as well as raffles and prizes given to the top cars. Fun for the entire family, there is a special area for kids with coloring, hula hoop contests and other activities.

A Day of Hope | May 6 | 11:30am-1:30pm | Miracle Springs Resort & Spa, Desert Hot Springs - Delicious lunch, live auction and raffle, free photo booth and inspiring speakers. Soroptimist House of Hope (SHOH) is a nonprofit organization founded in 1981 to provide recovery programs to women with substance abuse disorders.

American Cancer Society Relay For Life Kickoff Party & Luau | May 6 | 12pm-2pm | Palm Desert Civic Center Park - This year's theme is Hawaiian Luau. So come dressed in your grass skirt and best Hawaiian attire! We will be meeting in the Administrative Conference Room. Relay For Life is the signature fundraiser for the American Cancer Society.

Coachella Spring Cleaning Event | May 6 | 8am-1pm | Vista Escondido Park, Coachella - The City of Coachella will be accepting unwanted electrical waste, tires, bulky trash, and green waste at no cost to residents!

Palm Springs Film Noir Festival | May 11-14 | Camelot Theater, 2300 E. Baristo Rd., Palm Springs - Writer and Film Noir Foundation director Alan K. Rode, who is producing and hosting the festival for the sixth consecutive year, promises another fun-filled weekend of classic noir enlivened by special guest star appearances and introductions by noted film historians.

United Way of the Desert Presents: “Paris En Rouge” Gala | May 12 | 6pm | Ritz-Carlton, Rancho Mirage - The organization’s mission is to break the cycle of poverty in the Coachella Valley and foster a healthy and vibrant community, built on opportunities for everyone. A global day of creativity and conservation in Joshua Tree and around the world, celebrating the life and legacy of composer Lou Harrison. Joshua Tree Music Festival | May 18-21 | Joshua Tree Lake Campground - The experience is enhanced when embraced in the great outdoors amongst fellow music lovers. Better still in an intimate setting, where the distinction between artist and audience is blurred, and a passionate performance can be truly relished in close proximity to the stage. Add free water to patrons, no service charges on reasonably priced tickets, and well...let the games begin.

Star Party & Night Adventures in the Monument | May 20 | 8pm-10pm | Santa Rosa & San Jacinto Mountains National Monument Visitor Center, Palm Desert - The Astronomical Society of the Desert will conduct “sky tours” and direct observations of the night sky through telescopes and giant binoculars. When it becomes full darkness, black lights will be used to seek out the various night creatures inhabiting the desert. Some creatures that might be found are: scorpions, tarantulas, lizards, geckos, spiders, owls, jackrabbits, snakes and maybe a coyote. This is a family event.

Dr. Carreon Foundation Scholarship Awards Banquet | May 26 | 6:30pm | Double Tree Hilton Resort, Cathedral City - 20-25 local Hispanic High School seniors from local area schools will receive Scholarships.

Caribbean Music Festival | May 26-28| Cathedral City’s Festival Lawn - The three-day event brings tourists from across the country, mostly from the East Coast, for a destination vacation to celebrate Caribbean food, music and culture in the Coachella Valley.

Memorial Day Flower Drop & Air Fair | May 29 | 10am | Palm Springs Air Museum - Join the museum as they drop 3,000 red and white carnations from a vintage airplane to commemorate those who gave the ultimate sacrifice. Activities for this event include flight exhibitions throughout, special program, music, children’s activities, and food vendors. A Beer Garden area will also be available for those age 21 and over.
