The 17th annual Rancho Mirage Art Affaire will be held on Saturday and Sunday, November 4th & 5th, 2017 from 9:00 am – 5:00 pm daily. The event is free to the public and will be held at the Rancho Mirage Community Park located at 71560 San Jacinto Drive.
Over 90 juried artists will display their paintings, drawings, sculpture, ceramics, jewelry, glass, apparel and much more. For the children and young at heart, the Rad Hatter will be on hand showing them how to make festive head gear from recycled materials. Food, soft drinks, water and adult beverages will available for purchase from local Rancho Mirage restaurants.
In addition, free smooth jazz concerts will be presented by Marker Broadcasting each day of the Art Affaire in the park’s state-of-the-art amphitheater:
Saturday, November 4th – 2 pm: Chase Huna
Local teen smooth jazz saxophonist, Chase Huna will once again open-up the 2017 Art Affaire at 2 pm.
Saturday, November 4th – 4 pm: The Lao Tizer Band
The Lao Tizer Band is a multicultural band led by Boulder, Colorado, native keyboardist/composer Lao Tizer! They are establishing themselves in the contemporary jazz world with comparisons of a modern twist to the ’70s and early ’80s heyday of jazz fusion. LTB has a multigenre, multinational appeal that expands beyond just jazz enthusiasts. Their diverse resume includes performance slots alongside Zappa Plays Zappa, Jethro Tull, Isaac Hayes, Al Jarreau, Spyro Gyra, George Benson, Soulive, Babyface, Bruce Hornsby, and Robin Thicke.
Sunday, November 5th - 2 pm: The Smooth Brothers
Local R and B band, The Smooth Brothers will get the party started on, or rather, keep the party
Sunday, November 5th – 4 pm: José Neto Band
José Neto is the bandleader for the José Neto Band, which has recorded and performed with the same personnel for 25 years. They began performing together in 1992 at the legendary Ronnie Scott’s club in London, where the band had a two-week residence every year for 12 years. They recorded six albums together, including their most recent release, Other Shore. The Neto Band consists of Frank Martin on keyboard, Gary Brown on bass, Celso Alberti on drums, and José Neto on guitar. Neto is currently on tour with Steve Winwood and has collaborated on nine songs with Winwood throughout the 15 consecutive years they have played and toured together.
Amphitheater seating will be provided on a first come first serve basis and blankets and lawn chairs will be permitted within the venue. Food and beverages will be available for purchase inside the amphitheater. Coolers, outside food/beverages, pets, and smoking are not permitted inside the amphitheater. Free parking is located along San Jacinto Drive and handicapped parking is available at the park. This is a rain or shine event.
