Two longtime desert events, the Tour de Palm Springs and the New Balance Half-Marathon, run consecutively on the weekend of Jan. 23-24. The Tour de Palm Springs charity bike ride on Jan 23rd, with 25, 50 and 100 mile-routes, starts in Palm Springs while the New Balance Half Marathon on Jan. 24, being held for the first time in Palm Desert, starts at the Palm Desert Civic Center Park. Each are kicking off their 18th seasons here in the desert and both have grown tremendously, with up to 10,000 participants expected to hit the roads for both events.
