Eight4Nine Restaurant & Lounge, which has been a hot topic among foodies in the desert for quite some time, is set to open on September 1. The 8,000 square foot space in the uptown design district was originally built as the first post office in Palm Springs. Between the bar, lounge, dining room, patio, and several private rooms, Eight4Nine will seat 300 guests. With the redesign, the space is said to sometimes feel more like an art gallery than an eatery, with every room having its own unique set of pictures and décor, ranging from celebrity photos to an interlocking 'LV' sign that previously called a Louis Vuitton store in Paris its home. The food comes off the menu of executive chef Chuck Courtney, who opened the since-closed Citron at the Viceroy Hotel. He's cooked up and down the West Coast— from Alaska to Washington to Oregon to the Bay Area and says the menu at Eight4Nine will be modern American, upscale but approachable, using many of the flavors from his past stops as well as influences from the Pacific Rim, Latin America, and Korea.
