The Desert Sun’s Xochitl Pena writes about Palm Springs couple, Eric and Lindsay Bennett, who have been flipping homes for almost a decade.  The couple will share their skills with the world on HGTV’s 8 episode “Desert Flippers” series, premiering at 11 p.m. on Aug. 25. Lindsay Bennet is quoted as having said: “You never know what you’re going to find in the desert, Palm Springs is booming right now. There are new hotels, hot restaurants and young people with new families moving in all the time. The potential is incredible.”

The premiere episode has the couple blindly purchasing a home only to realize it has been vandalized by squatters and is infested with scorpions. During an upcoming episode they also come across pools littered with trees and the remnants of what appears to be a full on marijuana grow-op. However, as with any good flipper, they overcome drama to transform the eyesore into a dream home.

Xochitle noted that this is not the first time that desert locals have showcased their construction skills for the television viewing world. On May 30 on the DIY Network channel, Jim Bellamy, the general manager of California Pools in Palm Desert, hosted an episode of "Pool Kings" and showcased the construction of an elaborate, over-the-top pool in Las Vegas.
