  • According to the Greeting Card Association, an estimated 1 billion Valentine’s Day cards are sent each year (second to the estimated 2.6 billion Christmas cards sent each year), with women purchasing approximately 85 percent of all Valentines Day cards;
  • In the United States, $448 million are spent on candy, including 58 million pounds of chocolate candy, during the week before February 14th;
  • In the United States, 23% of adults claim to buy flowers on Valentine’s Day, with women accounting for 39% of these flower purchases and men accounting for 61% of them;
  • The top flower pick for Valentine’s Day is mixed flowers, with red roses in second place;
  • Looking for a city or town with a “Love-ly” name, then how about Valentine NE, Valentine TX, Loving NM, Love Valley NC or Romance AR; and
  • Americans spend roughly $8.6 million on 174,000 gallons of sparkling wine for Valentine’s Day, making it one of the bubbliest occasion after New Years, Christmas and Thanksgiving.
