Palm Springs Life Magazine’s Thomas Meaghermarch writes that it’s ladies first when it comes to the PGA and LPGA professional golf tours’ most prestigious 2018 championships, aka, the “Majors”. A week before the men gather at Augusta National for the Masters, the world’s best women golfers will tee it up March 28 at the 47th annual ANA Inspiration on the Dinah Shore Tournament Course at Mission Hills Country Club in Rancho Mirage.
Tournament week gets underway March 27 with an event that looks beyond the fairways; the third annual ANA Inspiring Women in Sports Conference. Actress and humanitarian Ashley Judd will deliver the keynote address focused on her humanitarian efforts, inclusion and equality in the workplace, and using your voice to create change. She will be joined by a group of panelists including two-time Olympic gold medalist, FIFA Women’s World Cup champion and two-time FIFA Player of the Year Carli Lloyd, Sallie Krawcheck, CEO and Co-Founder of Ellevest, an innovative digital investment platform for women that aims to close the gender investing gap in the U.S., Olympic gold medalists and twin sisters Jocelyne Lamoureux-Davidson and Monique Lamoureux-Morando, stars of the U.S. Women's Hockey Team and Muslim-American fencer and Olympic bronze medalist Ibtihaj Muhammad, the first women to wear a hijab in Olympic competition.
Starting Thursday, past tournament winners Lydia Ko, Brittany Lincicome, Lexi Thompson, Stacy Lewis and defending champion So Yeon Ryu, among others, begin Championship Play. Their goal; the victor’s leap into Poppie’s Pond, the now-legendary body of water that surrounds the ANA’s finishing green.
In addition to fantastic tournament play, attendees can experience the LPGA Lesson Zone, where for a couple of hours each day of the tournament, LPGA teaching and club professionals will be on hand to give free lessons. The ANA’s cuisine should also be a draw, with Wallys Desert Turtle, one of the Coachella Valley’s most popular destination eateries, manning food stations throughout the grounds and in the 18th green suites.
The ANA Inspiration runs from March 26 through April 1. For more information, please visit: https://www.anainspiration.com
