According to Community Association Research, a staggering 69 million Americans live in 342,000 common-interest communities. The majority (90%) of these owners think that their Home Owners Association (HOA) protects their investment and enhances property values. In addition, 73% of owners feel that their community managers provide support to residents and their associations.
According to the survey, the best aspects of living in a community association are:
- Clean or attractive neighborhood
- Safe neighborhood
- Maintenance free neighborhood
- Having the association help maintain property values
Again, according to the survey, the worst aspects of living in a community association are:
- Restrictions on exterior home improvements
- Paying dues
