Palm Springs’ Modernism Week in February is an exciting 11-day celebration of mid-century modern design, architecture, art, fashion and culture. What started in 2006 as a three-day event, originally called “Modernism Weekend”, with less than 1,000 attendees has transformed over 13 years into an international attraction that was expected to draw 100,000 guests.
There is a lot going on, including the Modernism Show & Sale, tours of iconic homes, architectural, walking and double-decker bus tours, a world-class lecture & film series. One of the highlights for us…this morning’s Super Duper Double Decker Bus Tour of Palmspringsland with Charles Phoenix, who recently released his new book, “Addicted to Americana”. Charles made the tour an extremely entertaining and informative experience peeling back the layers of time in Palm Springs and exploring “Palm Springs Modernity” from the top deck of a double decker bus. We’d recommend it…and will be doing it again at the Modernism Week Fall Preview if the tour is offered.
