The folks at Patch.com report that Palm Desert First Weekend returns November 3rd -5th. Palm Desert First Weekend is a city-wide celebration of fun filled events that happens the first Friday of each month from November to May. November’s First Weekend Events include:

El Paseo Cruise Night - Nov 3rd from 3 to 6 P.M. – El Paseo - Get a close-up look at lovingly cared for cars on the upper level of The Gardens on El Paseo parking structure, then watch them cruise the street between Highway 74 and Portola. Talk with the owners as the cool, shiny cars begin arriving around 3:15 p.m. before they begin cruising El Paseo between 4 and 6 p.m.

El Paseo Art Walk - Nov 3rd from 4 to 8 P.M. - The renowned El Paseo Art Walk is a self-guided stroll among the numerous art galleries on the famed avenue. Art galleries will feature exhibition openings, artist receptions and more, including the Daryl Thetford Art Exhibit on November 3rd from 10 A.M. to 5 P.M. at Desert Art Collection.

Street 2017 - Nov 3rd from 5 to 11 P.M. - On The Deck, the third level of Westfield Palm Desert’s parking structure near Macy’s - This free festival features: live music, including ska, reggae, and hip-hop bands as well as DJs; larger-than-life art, including live muraling, spray painting and interactive sculpture; a wide variety of food and drink vendors, including everything from a Stuft Pizza pop-up restaurant to food trucks, craft beer, cocktails, and more; and shopping, including more than a dozen retail vendors offering your favorite brands and local designers. Galen First Friday  - Nov 3rd from 4 to 9 P.M. - Palm Springs Art Museum in Palm Desert - This free celebration features: an interactive El Dia De Los Muertos, or Day of the Dead art project in the outdoor Faye Sarkowsky Sculpture Garden; live music; docent tours of the current exhibition Bob Van Breda: Lost and Found at 4 p.m.; a performance by the College of the Desert Ballet Folklorico Club "Sabor a mi Tierra" at 5 p.m.; an ArtTalk lecture with Run with Los Muertos Artist of the Year PANCA at 6 p.m.; and a music performance by David Macias at 7 p.m.

Civic Center Public Art Tour – Nov 4th from 9 A.M. to 10 A.M. – Palm Desert Civic Center Park - in front of the Messenger of the Puul statue, located at the south entrance to the park off of Fred Waring -  A free, guided walking tour of the public art collection at the Palm Desert Civic Center Park.

Desert Mountains Art Faire – Nov 4th from 9 A.M. to 4 P.M. – National Monument Visitor Center, 51500 Highway 74, Palm Desert - Support local artists and find beautiful and unique gifts and desert mementos while enjoying the natural beauty of our desert mountains! Mediums may include photography, paintings, ceramics and more.

Living in Earthquake Country – Nov 4th from 1 to 3 P.M. - National Monument Visitor Center, 51500 Highway 74, Palm Desert - Learn about the creation of San Andreas fault and topography of the west with animations explaining earthquake shaking to better understand why/how to be prepared for the next "big one."

College of the Desert Street Fair - Nov 4th and 5th from 7 A.M. to 2 P.M. - College of the Desert, corner of Monterey and Fred Waring - Offering more than 300 booths featuring artists, farmer’s market, boutiques, unique items, live entertainment, gourmet food and more.

Story Hour at the Monument - Nov 5th from 1 to 2 P.M. - National Monument Visitor Center, 51500 Highway 74, Palm Desert - Kids’ Corner offers story time about nature and desert creatures in the National Monument and includes outdoor or craft activities. Ages 4 to 8 are welcome with a parent. Space is limited.

Maps and Compass & Basics for Youth - Nov 5th from 1 to 2 P.M. - National Monument Visitor Center, 51500 Highway 74, Palm Desert - Learn how to use a map with a compass. Ages 9 an above, space is limited.
