They’re talking about us in Silicon Valley. In a recent article, The Mercury News’ Mary Orlin writes that tickets for Palm Springs’ Modernism Week go on sale November 1st at Noon PST. A first-time online preview of the event lineup was made available on October 25th. The 2018 edition of Modernism Week runs Feb.15th to Feb 25th, with more than 350 ticketed events, including an opening night party at the Indian Canyons Golf Resort, the signature double-decker bus tours (for peeking over the hedges of architecturally significant homes) and the Modernism Week Show House, where Palm Springs designer Christopher Kennedy will transform a Deepwell neighborhood home with the help of prominent decorators, including Thom Filicia, from “Queer Eye for the Straight Guy.”
The event lineup also includes dozens of new events like a “Hollywood Revisited” musical revue, that will showcase original costumes from 1950s and ’60s-era movies. In addition, an evening fundraiser for Save Iconic Architecture is planned at Dinah Shore’s Donald Wexler-designed Palm Springs home, which is rarely open to the public. A special presentation will salute Frank Lloyd Wright, and a new Albert Frey documentary will premiere at the festival.
