With clear skies returning to the Coachella Valley this weekend, here’s an event you might want to take in. Anna Rumer writes in a recent Desert Sun Article that the Southwest Arts Festival, deemed one of North America's top 100 events by Travel Magazine, is returning to the Empire Polo Grounds for its 31st year. The festival, running from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. from January 26th through January 29th, will bring together about 250 artists from all over the U.S. and Mexico who work in every medium from textiles and jewelry to paint and clay. More than 500 applications were submitted to the independent board that blindly scores and selects the artists to be featured, so the event will truly feature the best of the best.
As always, there will be more than art at the art festival. Attendees can enjoy live music and entertainment, recreational tents and food and beverage stands that will keep them going during a day of shopping and culture. So, even if you're not a huge art enthusiast, it's worth it to come out to the polo grounds and expand your horizons. With a four-day pass only $5 more than a general admission ticket, there's plenty of time to enjoy everything the festival has to offer.

- The festival will be open to the public from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Jan. 26, 27, 28 and 29 at the Empire Polo Club.
- Tickets cost $12 for general admission and $15 for a four-day pass including parking. Seniors can buy tickets for $10 and children under 14 can get in for free. Guests are asked not to bring any pets except for those that are designated service animals.
