Bermuda Dunes is a fairly recent residential and resort development found in Southern California near Palm Springs and Indio. A part of Riverside County, Bermuda Dunes has a total population of about seven thousand three hundred residents. Like many surrounding towns, Bermuda Dunes has seen significant population growth in the last few years, adding about a thousand residents since the 2000 census. Bermuda Dunes was constructed in the early 1960s, and takes its name from the eponymous Bermuda Dunes Country Club. The area around Bermuda Dunes is famous for its outstanding golf courses and resort facilities, including Sun City Palm Desert’s Mountain Vista Course. Bermuda Dunes is a part of the Desert Sands Unified School District, although the region is also home to the Christian Schools of the Desert, a private school serving preschool through grade 12. The larger Riverside County area is home to a wider selection of private schools in addition to several post secondary institutions.
The heart of Bermuda Dunes continues to be the Bermuda Dunes Country Club, which has seen such celebrities as Arnold Palmer and Clark Gable as members. In addition to a beautiful golf course and warm, sunny weather throughout the year, the Bermuda Dunes Country Club maintains its own Pro Shop and Driving Range. The complex is also home to a bar, grill, and dining room, which host a number of special events throughout the year. The Club maintains an active social calendar, offering events such as a fashion show and guest speakers. The area around Bermuda Dunes is home to a number of shopping centers and restaurants, and nearby cities such as La Quinta are a great place to explore on a day trip.
