In today’s print edition of The Desert Sun article, Xochitl Pena takes a look at 9 ways to celebrate other’s Day in the Coachella Valley this weekend. Her picks: 

1.       Edible Gardens & Massage

Palm Desert’s JW Marriott Desert Springs Resort offers a Lavender Dreams massage at the Spa to help mom fell extra special, as well as an edible garden display and five culinary stations at the resort’s Rockwood Grill. The resort also will offer a self-serve MoMosa Bar, private gondola rides and flower bouquets available for purchase. 

2.       Casino Cuisine 

Both The Spa Resort Casino and Agua Caliente Resort Casino will have Mother’s Day dining options. The Steakhouse at Spa Resort Casino will serve up Mother’s Day’s meals from 5 to 10 pm at a cost of $52 per person; the Oasis Buffet at Spa Resort Casino will be open from 11:30 am to 9 pm at a cost of $34.99 per person; and The Grand Palms Buffet at Agua Caliente Casino will be open from 10 am to 9 pm at a cost of $34.99 per person. 

3.       Spa For A Cause

Rancho Mirage’s Westin Mission Hills Golf Resort and Spa is hosting a Mother's Day Spa Soiree from 6 to 8 pm Friday, benefiting the Desi Strong Foundation which serves families faced with childhood cancer. Attendees will be treated to an evening of mini-treatments including massage, scalp treatments, express facials and more. Includes swag bag, hors d'oeuvres, wine bar, vendor demos, retail discounts and raffles. Cost is $75. 

4.       Film Noir

The Arthur Lyon’s Film Noir Festival kicks off on Thursday and runs through Mother’s Day on Sunday, at the Camelot Theatres at the Palm Springs Cultural Center. The event features an eclectic mix of black and white movies of the film noir kind and special guest stars, including Jack O’Halloran, Victoria Price, Ruta Lee and Victoria Mature. 

5.       MOMosa Flights

Indian Wells’ Eureka! is launching some new cocktails on Thursday in time for Mother’s Day and offering a MOM-osa Sampler Saturday and Sunday. The MOM-osa flight will include four freshly squeezed juices including orange, pineapple, grapefruit and ginger-lime. Other new cocktails available include The Cannibal, the “Treat Yourself” Old Fashioned, Botanist G&T, the Wild Child, and New Dehli Sunrise. 

6.       Brunch at Melvyn’s

Palm Springs’ Melvyn’s Restaurant at Ingleside Inn is serving up brunch for mother from 11:30 am to 2 pm Sunday that includes a variety of entrees, from a Cobb Salad and Sausage Maison omelet to Steak Venetian and Chicken Paillard, fresh baked pastries mignardises and unlimited champagne. 

7.       Bubbly & Brunch 

Palm Springs’ Eight4Nine Restaurant and Lounge is celebrating mom with a three-course brunch menu that includes a glass of champagne for each course, from 11 am to 3 pm Sunday. 

8.       Melissa Manchester Live 

Melissa Manchester, known for her songs “Midnight Blue,” “Don’t Cry Out Loud,” and “You Should Hear How She Talks About You,” performs with the Coachella Valley Symphony to help them celebrate 25 years during a show at the McCallum Theatre at 7 pm Saturday. 

9.       Bow Wow Brunch

Even kids of the furry kind will be able to get mom something. Palm Desert’s Venus De Fido, a spa for people and their pets, will host a Bow Wow Brunch from 11 am to 3 pm on Sunday with food, music, fashion and endless champagne.
