The exhibition reflects on the desert’s deep time evolutions reframing ideas and wilderness and exploring themes of indigenous futurism, design activism, colonial power asymmetries, the impress of humanity on the land and the role of emerging technologies in our contemporary society. Desert X consults with site owners and environmental organizations to install artworks and welcome visitors in a manner in which the exhibition leaves no trace after it closes. Desert Legends Women’s Weekend | Apr. 3-7 | Various Coachella Valley Locations
A weekend of events and activities catering to lesbians, and will draw hundreds of women to the desert this Spring. The iconic “Dinah Shore Golf Tournament” has been happening in April since 1972, and became a special place for lesbians to connect for many years. In 2023, the LPGA moved the tournament to a new location, and could have been the end of an era, but promoter and performer Corday & Crew seized the opportunity to create a weekend of events and activities that catered to this female demographic. This spectacular fundraising event benefits the Palm Springs Animal Shelter and the Desert Wildlife Center. B-29 DOC will land in Palm Springs, CA., at the Palm Springs Air Museum as part of the 2025 B-29 DOC History Restored Tour, April 29 through May 4. B-29 DOC, one of only two remaining airworthy B-29 Superfortresses in the world, is one of 1,644 B-29 bombers built by the Boeing Company in Wichita, KS, during World War II. The tour stop in Palm Springs will include B-29 DOC Flight Experience Rides, along with ground and cockpit tours of the historic warbird.
