Experience the native desert landscape on a nature walk in Blixseth Mountain park with Friends of the Desert Mountains volunteer docents. The path is friendly to dogs on a leash. Bring 1 liter of water, a hat, sunscreen and wear sturdy close-toed shoes. Please wear a mask at check-in and practice social distancing. Tickets are $5. Take in this musical, based on a true story about Patsy Cline's friendship with a Houston fan named Louise Seger. 6. Famed Aviation Artist Stan Stokes-Tuskegee Airmen Collection | Jan 15th-Feb.28th - Saturday, Sunday and Monday (and other days) from 10am-5pm | Palm Springs Air Museum, 745 N. Gene Autry Trail, Palm Springs
Browse more than 80 pieces of original artwork immortalizing the members of the Tuskegee Airmen and learn the stories of these brave aviators who broke barriers to fight against Nazism in WWII despite the obstacles of racial segregation (and a US military policy that attempted to prevent them from flying). It’s back…after a long pandemic-induced hiatus with a mix of food, shopping and special events. Proceeds support College of the Desert students by raising money for the Alumni Association, which provides scholarships, financial aid and other programs that address student needs. 9. Rancho Mirage Full Moon Hike | Jan. 16th from 8:30-9:30am (with check-in starting 15 minutes prior to the group departure) | Bighorn Overlook trail loop, 69-825 California 111, Rancho Mirage
Grab your hiking boots and join Friends of the Desert Mountains volunteer docents on this inaugural full-moon hike on the Bighorn Overlook trail loop. You will experience mountain views in the wash of moonlight and shadows, as well as the urban night lights of the Coachella Valley. This is an easy 2-mile hike with 275 feet of elevation gain. Bring 1 liter of water per person, headlamp or flashlight, and wear closed-toed shoes. No dogs allowed, and you must wear a mask.
